Destination: Yangon - Kyaikhtiyo - Bago - Thanlyin - Yangon
Day - 1 Yangon-Kyaikhtiyo
Start the trip at 8 a.m. The trip to Kyaikhtiyo passes first the historical town Bago which is only 80 km (50 ml) north of Yangon. At half way to Kyaikhtiyo, is the town called Waw to stop for lunch at a local restautant. After crossing Sittaung Bridge, drive past another town Theinzayat. Eventually, arrive at Kyaik Hto, the nearest town to Kyaikhtiyo. The car stops at the base camp Kimpon where the trucks leave to climb for an hour as high as possible to the top of a hill called Yathetaung. Climb on foot for forty-five minutes to the boulder known to us all as Golden Rock or Kyaikhtiyo. Overnight at the hotel in the hill.
Day - 2 Kyaikhtiyo-Bago-Yangon
On your way back to Yangon, make a stop at Bago. It is the ancient capital of Mon Kingdom and was the last capital of the second Myanmar Emperor founded by King Bayinnaung. Your sightseeing in Bago includes the Shwemawdaw Pagoda which is taller than the Shwedagon Pagoda of Yangon; the Shwethahlaung Pagoda, the reclining Buddha statue with the length of 55 meters considered the most beautiful reclining Buddha statue in Myanmar. Visit Kyaikpon Pagoda, the 14th century, Mon-style Pagoda. It has a square block in brick with four colossal seated Buddha statues of 70 meter (230 ft) in height, one on each side of the block. Arrive back to Yangon before dark. Check in to your hotel and overnight in Yangon.
Day - 3 / Yangon-Thanlyin-Yangon
In the morning, set off for the trip to Thanlyin also known as Syriam is the satellite town of Yangon. In the 17th century, it was the capital of Southern Myanmar. The Portuguese warrior Phillip de Brito turned the city into fortress to defend the attack from Myanmar Kingdom of Taunggu from Upper Myanmar. Thanhlin was a port city and thrived with trades by the European and Indian merchants. After visiting its local market, go outside of the town to the famous Pagoda complex on the island known as the Kyaik Hmaw Wun Pagoda at Kyauktan Village. Return to Yangon and lunch at local restaurant on the way. On arrival at Yangon, visit Bogyoke Market (Scott Market) and China town.
